The show started an hour early, and I had to fill time passively to leave myself free to attend to a few other things. Anthony Braxton came to the rescue. The mammoth 4-CD set, Six Compositions (GTM) 2001 on Rastascan, opens with a 90+ minute piece — yes, that’s more than can fit on one CD!

Even after the first hour was up, I didn’t have the heart to pull the track — how often does Composition No. 286 (+147, 20 69D, 256, 173, 6J, 162, 23A, to be precise) get a full airing, anyway?
